“Women Cheat More; They Are Just More Discreet” — Toke Makinwa Sparks Debate
Nigerian media personality and entrepreneur Toke Makinwa has ignited widespread debate on social media after sharing her candid views on infidelity and gender dynamics.
The outspoken broadcaster made the remarks during a recent episode of her podcast, Toke Moments, where she discussed cheating, relationships, and societal double standards surrounding men and women. Eyes Of Lagos reports,
According to Makinwa, cheating is often unfairly framed as a predominantly male behavior, while women are wrongly portrayed as incapable of infidelity. She argued that women may even find it easier to cheat than men but are generally more discreet about it.
While clarifying that she does not promote cheating, the media personality explained that her views are shaped by maturity and real-life observations.
In her words, she said that cheating is not necessarily a dealbreaker for her, but it comes with conditions. She emphasized that infidelity should not be viewed as a male-only trait, stressing that women also have opportunities and the capacity to cheat.
Makinwa further noted that men often invest money, time, and effort to cheat, whereas women are usually on the receiving end of attention, making it comparatively easier for them. However, she added that many women choose not to cheat, not because they cannot, but because of personal discipline and strength.
She also pointed out that workplace relationships and emotional connections often blur boundaries, jokingly referencing the idea of “work boyfriends” as an example of how infidelity can quietly develop.
According to her, women who cheat are often more skilled at hiding it, which is why such cases are less publicly exposed.
As expected, Toke Makinwa’s statements have continued to generate mixed reactions online. While some listeners agreed with her perspective and praised her honesty, others criticized her remarks as controversial and unnecessary.
Regardless of opinion, the discussion has once again placed the spotlight on conversations around trust, fidelity, and gender expectations in modern relationships.
