Olamide Calls Wizkid, Davido, and Burna Boy His “Troublesome Friends” in Candid Interview
Nigerian rap icon Olamide Baddo recently opened up about his friendship with some of Afrobeats’ biggest stars—Wizkid, Davido, and Burna Boy—describing them humorously as his “troublesome friends.” Eyes Of Lagos reports,
Speaking on the Afrobeats Podcast with Adesope Olajide on Monday, Olamide, in Yoruba, said:
“Wizkid, Davido, and Burna Boy are all my friends; they are just too troublesome. They are cool dudes; it’s just that sometimes many can’t align on so many things, and that’s fine.”
A Spontaneous Hit Collaboration with Wizkid
Olamide also shared how his recent collaboration with Wizkid on the hit track “Kia” came about unexpectedly. According to him, the partnership developed organically during a video shoot:
“We didn’t plan it that way. It was just supposed to be Kia, and while on set, I was playing some songs off my album for Wizkid. Then he heard ‘Billionaire’s Club,’ instantly connected with it, and insisted on being part of it right away.”
Olamide described Wizkid as “a solid dude”, praising his support, professionalism, and friendship.

The interview also shed light on Olamide’s illustrious career, spanning over a decade, more than ten projects, global tours, and collaborations with international stars like Dr. Dre.
As a music executive, Olamide has helped shape the careers of top Afrobeats talents including Fireboy DML, Lil Kesh, Adekunle Gold, Young Jonn, and Asake.
Reflecting on his early struggles, Olamide emphasized faith and perseverance as key drivers of his success:
“Whatever it is you want to be in life, one thing you should not joke with is God… People shouldn’t undermine how far they can go with the blessings of the Lord and His grace.”
He added that his dedication to nurturing young artists comes from firsthand experience with the challenges of breaking into the music industry.
