Phyna Says She’s Yet to Receive ₦100 Million BBNaija Prize

Reality TV star and Big Brother Naija (BBNaija) Season 7 winner, Josephina Ijeoma Otabor, popularly known as Phyna, has reignited controversy after revealing that she is yet to receive the ₦100 million grand prize she won from the popular reality show in 2022. Eyes Of Lagos reports,

Phyna made the disclosure during a recent livestream interaction with her fans, where she responded to questions surrounding the long-standing rumours about her BBNaija winnings.

According to the reality star, despite being announced as the winner of the “Level Up” edition of the show, the promised monetary reward has not been fully paid, contrary to public belief.

Addressing a fan who asked about the prize money, Phyna expressed frustration and disappointment, stating that she had previously cried out over the issue but was dismissed and accused of lying.

“First of all, they did not give me ₦100 million. When I was crying online, people said I was lying. When I said they were owing me, people talked anyhow,” she said during the livestream.

Phyna added that the unresolved issue forced her to go public, as all internal efforts to resolve the matter had allegedly failed.

While Multichoice Nigeria, the organisers of BBNaija, have previously maintained that they fulfilled all contractual obligations to the Season 7 winner, Phyna continues to dispute the claim.

As of the time of filing this report, Multichoice has not issued a fresh response to Phyna’s latest statements.

Phyna’s revelation has sparked fresh debate and mixed reactions on social media, with many Nigerians questioning the transparency of BBNaija prize disbursements.

Some reactions include:

  • @JustAnuboy: “Big Brother still dey owe Phyna till today? Abi Big Brother na scam or na her own case different?”

  • @Adorable_Adora1: “Is she trying to say BBNaija scammed her?”

  • @lydiaonxx: “This doesn’t make sense. The show makes way more than ₦100 million. Why wouldn’t they pay her fully?”

Phyna’s claim has once again brought attention to the structure of BBNaija prize packages, which often include cash, sponsored items, and endorsements spread across multiple brands.

Industry analysts note that while the prize is marketed as ₦100 million, the actual cash component may be lower, with the remainder tied to conditional sponsorship deals.

However, Phyna’s insistence suggests deeper issues that remain unresolved nearly four years after her victory.
