Destiny Boy’s Father Cries Out Over Missing SUV After Singer’s Death
The father of late Afrobeats singer Destiny Boy has appealed to Nigerians for help following the disappearance of his son’s Sport Utility Vehicle (SUV) just days after the artiste’s death.
In an emotional video that went viral on Tuesday, the grieving father alleged that the vehicle was returned to the dealership, Lycon Autos, shortly after Destiny Boy passed away and has not been seen since. Eyes Of Lagos reports,
According to him, he personally accompanied his son, whose real name was Afeez Adeshina, to purchase the SUV.
He explained that on the day of purchase, the dealership provided a driver to convey the vehicle to their residence. The same individual later became Destiny Boy’s personal driver.
“Nigerians, please help me. My son has a car, and the car is with Lycon Autos. Although the car is not new, it is an SUV jeep. We went together to buy it,” he said.
The distraught father further alleged that the situation became complicated after the driver claimed Destiny Boy owed him money and allegedly returned the vehicle to the dealership without informing the family.
“The driver said my son was owing him money, so he took the car back to where we bought it from. I don’t even have the driver’s number. If the car were here, I would have gone to pick it up,” he added.
Destiny Boy died on Sunday at the age of 22, throwing fans and colleagues in the music industry into mourning.
Earlier, his mother, Saida, revealed that the singer had been battling a long-term mysterious illness, locally referred to as “Ogu oru,” which reportedly caused frequent seizures.
Speaking on Monday, Saida disclosed that the family sought medical, traditional, and spiritual solutions to manage her son’s condition but chose to keep it private due to his rising profile in the entertainment industry.
She also dismissed rumours linking Destiny Boy’s death to money rituals, describing such claims as false, insensitive, and deeply hurtful.
According to her, the family did everything within their power to ensure the singer recovered before his untimely death.
As of the time of filing this report, the whereabouts of the SUV remain unclear.
