Mr Real Seeks Reconciliation With D’banj Over Controversial CREAM Platform Remarks
Nigerian rapper Mr Real, born Okafor Victor, has issued a public apology to veteran singer and music executive D’banj following controversial remarks he made about the Creative, Reality, Entertainment, Arts and Music (CREAM) platform. Eyes Of Lagos reports,
The apology comes after D’banj’s legal counsel, Pelumi Olajengbesi, filed a petition accusing the rapper of criminal defamation, following comments in which Mr Real allegedly suggested that the CREAM platform could not afford to offer him a ₦20 million ambassadorial deal.
The remarks sparked widespread reactions on social media and subsequently led to legal action. A magistrate court reportedly ordered Mr Real to appear in court and restrained him from making further statements about D’banj pending the determination of the case.
In an emotional video shared on his Instagram page, Mr Real expressed deep remorse over the incident, describing D’banj as a mentor and father figure who played a major role in shaping his career.
“This video is an apology to my boss, D’banj. I want to use this opportunity to apologise to the Koko Master,” he said.
“I misunderstood and misinterpreted some things concerning the CREAM platform, and I sincerely say I am very sorry.”
The rapper further acknowledged D’banj’s influence on his musical journey, reaffirming his respect and loyalty to the veteran artiste.
“You have played a big role in my life and career, and I would never deny that. You are like a father and mentor to me. I am truly sorry and ask for your forgiveness,” he added.
Mr Real also pledged to fully cooperate with ongoing legal proceedings, stating that he would refrain from making further public comments on the matter.
“I promise to comply with the legal process and give my full cooperation. I remain loyal to you,” he said.
In a caption accompanying the apology video, the rapper confirmed that he had withdrawn his earlier statements and expressed his intention to resolve the dispute amicably and privately.
“I regret the tone and public manner of my recent comments relating to Bangalee. I hold D’banj in the highest regard and will not make further public statements on this matter while cooperating to resolve it amicably,” he wrote.
The apology has since drawn reactions from fans and industry observers, with many calling for reconciliation between both parties.
