Destiny Boy Sang Better Than Wizkid — Portable Sparks Online Reactions

Controversial Nigerian singer Portable has stirred fresh reactions on social media following comments he made about the late Afrobeat artiste Destiny Boy, describing him as more vocally talented than Grammy-winning superstar Wizkid.

The remarks were made in a video currently circulating online, in which the Zazu crooner mourned Destiny Boy while reflecting on what he described as the late singer’s struggles within the Nigerian music industry. Eyes Of Lagos reports,

In the emotional video, Portable expressed sadness over Destiny Boy’s death and suggested that the late artiste did not receive the support he needed to succeed despite his talent.

“Destiny Boy, we miss you. He knew how to sing more than Wizkid, but he didn’t have any helper,” Portable said.

He also prayed against dying young, hinting at the harsh realities of fame and betrayal in the entertainment industry.

“God, please don’t let me die young. Make sure you don’t die because there is fake love everywhere,” he added.

Portable further alleged that Destiny Boy had been battling serious health challenges privately and endured difficult moments without adequate support.

He also questioned the late singer’s decision to part ways with his former associates, 2T Boys, suggesting that his career took a negative turn after the split.

“I don’t know why he left his helpers, 2T Boys. Everything changed for him when he left them,” Portable said.

Addressing reports surrounding Destiny Boy’s death, Portable claimed the singer may have passed away while receiving traditional care due to prolonged illness.

“If he died at his babalawo’s place, it was because of his sickness. He had been facing a lot on his own,” he added.

The Zazu star also dismissed rumours that Destiny Boy received houses, cars or financial support from top artistes in the industry, insisting there was no evidence to support such claims.

Portable’s comments have since generated mixed reactions online, with many Nigerians debating the comparison between Destiny Boy and Wizkid, while others criticised the timing and nature of the remarks.

Portable’s comments come shortly after he regained freedom following his release from prison over a dispute involving his fourth baby mama, Ashabi Simple.

As of the time of filing this report, Wizkid has not responded to the claims.
