Nollywood actress Osas Ighodaro has recounted a deeply painful experience from her past, revealing how a former lover cheated on her and had her escorted out of his house while she was living in the United States.
The actress made the disclosure during a recent appearance on the Lone Wolf podcast, describing the incident as one of the most devastating moments of her life. Eyes Of Lagos reports,
According to Osas, the incident occurred shortly after she purchased a new car and decided to drive to Baltimore to surprise her then-boyfriend, whom she believed she would spend the rest of her life with.
She said she waited at his door for several minutes before he eventually opened it, reacting coldly to the unexpected visit and questioning why she had not informed him beforehand.
Her concern deepened when she attempted to enter his room and discovered that the door was locked.
Osas recounted that when she questioned him, he admitted that another woman was inside the room. She said it later became clear that the woman was pregnant.
The situation reportedly escalated after she confronted him, leading to the man calling security personnel at the apartment complex to escort her out of the house.
According to the actress, he claimed he was acting to prevent her from getting into trouble for confronting a pregnant woman.
“My whole world collapsed,” Osas said, describing the emotional pain as overwhelming.
She noted that she had always loved deeply and given her all in relationships, which made the betrayal particularly painful.
Reflecting on the incident, Osas said she later realised it was not just a loss but a turning point in her life.
She revealed that plans were already in motion for her to relocate permanently to Baltimore at the time, a move she later felt would have restricted her ambitions.
According to her, her dreams had always been global, and being surrounded by creatives in New York was crucial for her personal and professional growth, rather than settling into what she described as a “normal life.”
“Eventually, I saw it as a blessing,” she said, explaining that although the experience shattered her emotionally, it redirected her toward a path aligned with her purpose.
Osas Ighodaro later married actor Gbenro Ajibade in 2015 after they met on the set of the popular television series Tinsel. The marriage ended in divorce in 2019, and the former couple share a daughter, Azariah.
