Nollywood actress Ashabi Simple has opened up on her past relationship with controversial Nigerian singer Habeeb Okikiola, popularly known as Portable, alleging that the artiste took advantage of her age during their involvement.
Ashabi made the disclosure during an interview on Oyinmomo TV, published on YouTube, where she spoke candidly about the circumstances that led to their relationship and its eventual breakdown. Eyes Of Lagos reports,
According to the actress, she would not have entered into a relationship with Portable if he had not promised to marry her. She explained that the singer met her when she was much younger and gradually became emotionally involved with her.
“Portable chanced me. He met me at a younger age and took advantage of it. At the time, he was caring,” she said.
Ashabi noted that their relationship was built on trust and assurances, which later did not materialise as expected.
Speaking further, Ashabi revealed that Portable currently has 10 children at the age of 32, with her child being one of them. She admitted that the singer’s lifestyle and frequent public controversies contributed to challenges in their relationship.
Despite the fallout, the actress acknowledged that Portable played a significant role in supporting her career, particularly during the early stages of her journey in the entertainment industry.
“He supported me when I was starting out,” she said, adding that he was caring at the time, even though his public image often attracted criticism.
Ashabi confirmed that she and the singer are no longer together, explaining that she chose to step back to test her independence and determine whether she could succeed without relying on him.
She added that the decision was necessary for her personal growth and self-development.
When asked if she would consider returning to Portable, the actress avoided giving a direct response, leaving the possibility open.
The actress also disclosed that she is open to a polygamous marriage in the future, stating that the demands of her career may not always allow her to be physically present for her partner.
Her comments have since sparked mixed reactions online, with social media users debating accountability, relationships, and personal choices.
As of the time of filing this report, Portable has not publicly reacted to Ashabi Simple’s claims.
