
Reality television personality and former Big Brother Naija housemate Maria Chike Benjamin has addressed long-standing allegations that portrayed her as a home wrecker, stating that the public narrative surrounding her relationship was misunderstood.
Maria made the clarification during a recent podcast interview with media entrepreneur Chude Jideonwo, where she spoke candidly about her personal life and the controversies that followed her relationship with her partner, Kelvin Anene. Eyes Of Lagos reports,
According to the reality star, she was unaware of her partner’s marital status at the time they began dating.
“I wasn’t aware that he was married when we started dating,” she said.
She also maintained that she does not feel obligated to explain details of her private life to the public, stressing that she lives according to her own values rather than societal expectations.
“I don’t owe people my personal life. I am not a saint and I’m nobody’s role model because I’m for me. Whoever loves me can then decide to follow my steps,” she added.
