Veteran Nollywood actress Omotola Jalade-Ekeinde has revealed that her decision to stay true to her personal principles prevented her from becoming a billionaire.
The award-winning actress made the revelation during a recent appearance on The Afropolitan Show, where she reflected on key moments in her career and the choices she made along the way.
According to her, there were several occasions when she encountered opportunities that could have made her extremely wealthy. Eyes Of Lagos reports,
During the interview, Omotola explained that she consciously rejected certain offers because they required her to compromise her values.
She said she was once placed in situations where she could have accepted deals quietly without anyone finding out.
However, she chose to walk away instead.
“If I wanted to be a billionaire, I would have been one easily because I have been in situations where no one would have known. I could have taken certain things and compromised my stand, but I always said no and walked away,” she said.
The actress added that some of the individuals involved in those situations may still be watching her today.
Omotola explained that although the deals promised enormous financial rewards, she prioritized integrity over money.
She emphasized that protecting her values and reputation was more important than accumulating wealth through questionable means.
In a previous interview, the Nollywood star also shared that she once received a car as a gift during her marriage.
She explained that her husband did not object to the gesture, adding that admiration and support from fans or associates is not uncommon in the entertainment industry.
According to her, male celebrities also receive gifts and support from admirers, although women in the industry often experience it more frequently.
Despite turning down opportunities that could have dramatically increased her wealth, Omotola said she has no regrets.
She believes remaining authentic and loyal to her principles has brought her fulfillment and success that cannot be measured solely in financial terms.
