Veteran Nollywood actress Kate Henshaw has openly spoken against the increasingly common act of gate crashing at social events. In a recent Instagram video, the award-winning star shared her thoughts on self-respect and the importance of honoring invitations.
Henshaw described gate crashing as both disrespectful and inconsiderate, urging Nigerians to refrain from attending events to which they were not invited. Eyes Of Lagos reports,
“I want to talk about something that has been rampant and is still rampant,” she said. “Those of you who show up uninvited at events and parties, what’s your purpose? What are you hoping to achieve?”
She further highlighted the issue of guests bringing extra people to private events without consulting the host. “Then, those of you who receive a card admitting only one person but bring your entire village, what are you doing there? Why not respect yourself and stay away? It’s rude — you’re a gate crasher. Respect yourself enough to stay away from places you aren’t invited to,” Henshaw added.
The actress’s message resonates as a reminder for proper etiquette, especially in social and professional settings. By urging people to value self-respect and consider the hosts’ intentions, she emphasizes maintaining harmony and dignity in Nigerian social gatherings.
Her candid advice has since sparked conversations across social media, with fans praising her for addressing an issue that many have experienced at events.
