Amaechi Quits APC, Accuses INEC of Election Hijack Plot

In a political earthquake that has sent shockwaves through Nigeria’s power circles, former Minister of Transportation, Rotimi Amaechi, has officially dumped the All Progressives Congress (APC) — and he isn’t going quietly. Eyes Of Lagos reports,

Speaking at the unveiling of the interim executive committee of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) in Abuja on Wednesday, the ex-governor of Rivers State confirmed he resigned from the APC on Tuesday night.

But that’s not all. Amaechi, once one of APC’s biggest power brokers, leveled a shocking accusation: he claims the APC is working with INEC to hijack the 2027 general elections.

“Nigeria is completely destroyed. People can’t eat, can’t buy food, there’s no money. Inflation is at its peak. And the federal government is busy trying to hijack the election with the help of INEC,” Amaechi said.

🚨 Why It Matters:

  • Amaechi’s exit confirms internal cracks within the APC as the 2027 election battle begins to heat up.

  • His alliance with ADC—the same party recently adopted by Peter Obi and Atiku’s coalition—signals the rise of a united opposition front.

  • He also hinted that the fight is no longer about politics, but about “mobilizing Nigerians to reclaim their country.”

🗣️ More than just a resignation

Amaechi expressed surprise that APC hadn’t expelled him earlier, despite his open disinterest in party meetings.

“I warned them. I said stop inviting me to APC meetings, but they kept calling. So I left. It’s time to rebuild Nigeria from the ground up,” he declared.

This move adds more weight to the newly forming coalition between Peter Obi, Atiku Abubakar, Nasir El-Rufai, and now Amaechi—all of whom are reportedly adopting the ADC as their 2027 political platform.
