Busted in Broad Daylight! Six Nabbed for Dumping Waste on Lagos Road – Faces Prosecution (Photos)
In a bold crackdown on environmental offenders, the Lagos State Government has arrested six individuals for illegally dumping refuse on a road median along the Old Abeokuta Expressway in Agege. Eyes Of Lagos reports,
The arrests took place on the evening of Wednesday, July 2, thanks to the swift action of a joint enforcement team made up of operatives from the Kick Against Indiscipline (KAI) task force and the Ministry of the Environment and Water Resources.
🔎 Caught Red-Handed
According to Lagos State Commissioner for the Environment, Mr. Tokunbo Wahab, who announced the operation via his verified X (formerly Twitter) account, the suspects were caught in the act of indiscriminate waste dumping.
“We will not relent in our efforts to rid Lagos of environmental offenders. These arrests show our zero-tolerance stance on illegal waste disposal,” Wahab stated.

They will be prosecuted under Lagos State’s Environmental Management laws, which prohibit the indiscriminate dumping of refuse and aim to maintain a cleaner, safer environment.

The state government has intensified its environmental enforcement efforts in recent months, deploying more surveillance and cracking down on violators across the metropolis. Officials say this is part of the “Cleaner Lagos Initiative”, which aims to build a culture of discipline and sanitation among residents.
