Scandal Rocks LASU! Two Top Lecturers Sacked Over ₦10.6M Fraud and Sexual Harassment Allegations
In a major disciplinary shakeup, Lagos State University (LASU) has dismissed two senior lecturers over shocking allegations of gross misconduct, involving sexual harassment, financial fraud, and abuse of students. Eyes Of Lagos reports,
The decision was approved at the 143rd Statutory Meeting of the LASU Governing Council held on Thursday, July 3, 2025. This was confirmed in an official statement signed by Emmanuel Fanu, the Registrar and Secretary to the Council, and made available to Eyes of Lagos.
🟥 One Was a Dean, the Other a Coordinator – Both Found Guilty
One of the lecturers, Prof. Olatunji Tajudeen Fasasi Abanikannada, formerly the Dean, School of Agriculture, Epe Campus, was found guilty on several counts of misconduct, including:

Subjecting 400-level students to inhumane farm conditions—keeping them from 6:30 a.m. to 10:00 p.m. without food, water, or shelter during heavy rainfall.

Sexual harassment of female students

Verbal and emotional abuse of both students and staff through threats, curses, and profane language

Illegal collection of money from both staff and students
The shocking revelations came to light after a viral video showed students left stranded on the school farm under the sun and rain without basic welfare support.
🟥 ₦10.6 Million Unaccounted for in Second Case
The second dismissed staff member, Dr. Khadeejah Kareem-Ibraheem, who served as the Coordinator, Department of Animal Sciences, was found guilty of:

Dereliction of duty and failure to follow LASU’s approved academic curriculum and procedures

Embezzlement of over ₦10.6 million from the sale of farm produce—funds that were illegally deposited into her personal account rather than the university’s coffers
These offences were classified as “Serious Misconduct” under the LASU Conditions of Service for Senior Staff (2017, as amended).

The university management emphasized its zero-tolerance policy for abuse, corruption, and unethical behavior.
“We are committed to preserving the integrity of the institution. No one is above the rules,” the statement from Fanu declared.
