After 5 Kids and 12 Grandkids, She Found Love in Nigeria and Gave Birth at 56
In a story that’s breaking the internet and stirring intense debate, 56-year-old Angela Peters, a grandmother of 12, has welcomed twin girls after marrying a much younger Nigerian man — and many can’t decide whether to call her grannyor mummy. Eyes Of Lagos reports,
Angela, a mother of five and proud Aussie native, made a life-altering decision in 2019: she divorced her longtime husband after decades of marriage, citing years of unhappiness. But instead of slowing down, she jumped headfirst into a new chapter of life — love, motherhood, and IVF — at an age many would consider ‘too late.’

In 2020, Angela tried online dating and connected with a Nigerian man named Emeka. But it was Emeka’s brother, Bright, who truly caught her heart after she saw him in a family photo. She described the moment as “a thunderbolt,” saying, “I knew instantly he was the one.”
They spoke for hours daily, despite their different worlds — Angela in Australia, Bright working hard in South Africa. When they met in Nigeria in 2021, it only took one day for Bright to propose, and nine days later, they were married.
Angela’s family was shocked. Some thought she had married a scammer. Others feared she was rushing into something that didn’t make sense. But Angela stood firm — and so did Bright.
👶 56 and Pregnant: The Miracle She Didn’t Expect
While Angela had accepted that her days of raising children were behind her, Bright hadn’t yet had the chance to become a father. Despite her age and being perimenopausal, Angela started researching IVF options, only to discover Australia wouldn’t legally allow it beyond age 52.
Still determined, the couple found a clinic in Nigeria willing to carry out the procedure using a donor egg and Bright’s sperm. And in December 2023, they received miraculous news — twins were on the way.
In August 2024, Angela delivered two healthy baby girls, named Khorus and Knowyn, five minutes apart. At 56, she embraced motherhood once again — changing nappies, waking up for night feeds, and juggling bottles like a pro.
🔥 Internet Divided: “Selfish or Inspirational?”
Since going public with her story — especially on TikTok, where one of her daughters encouraged her to share it — Angela has received both praise and harsh criticism.
Some accused her of being selfish for having kids so late in life. Others say she’s proof that love and hope know no age limit.
“Nobody complains when men have kids in their 60s,” Angela clapped back. “This is my journey. My life. My joy.”
She says although people often mistake her for the twins’ grandmother, she simply smiles — because she knows this unlikely love story has brought her family closer than ever.
🌍 From Gold Coast to Lagos: A Story That Breaks Every Rule
Angela hopes her journey inspires women everywhere — especially those who think it’s too late to fall in love, start over, or become a mother.
“Don’t lose hope,” she says. “I crossed continents, took risks, and followed my heart. And now, both my hands and my heart are full.”
