Justice Umukoro had been abducted on Saturday, June 21, in a disturbing attack that shocked residents of Yenagoa and sparked outrage among legal practitioners and human rights advocates.

😨 How the Abduction Happened

Eyewitnesses recounted that the assailants—dressed in black and wearing masks—intercepted the judge’s vehicle and opened fire. Fortunately, the gunshots missed their target. The kidnappers then used a white, unmarked Hilux van to block his path and forcefully whisked him away.

Surprisingly, the attackers left behind the judge’s black Toyota Prado SUV, raising speculations that the attack was a targeted operation rather than a random kidnapping.

As of the time of this report, the identities of the kidnappers remain unknown, and authorities have not disclosed whether arrests have been made or ransom paid. Justice Umukoro is believed to be in stable condition following his release.
