FCTA Vows Justice for 14-Year-Old Girl Allegedly Raped by Popular Abuja Pastor Amos Isah

A disturbing case has rocked Abuja, involving a respected pastor and a teenage girl. Reports allege that Pastor Amos Isah, founder of the Prophetic Victory Voice of Fire Ministry in Gwagwalada, has been accused of raping a 14-year-old girl and threatening her silence. Eyes Of Lagos reports,

The Allegations: Rape, Injury, and Intimidation

Pastor Isah, who is now reportedly in police custody, is accused of luring the minor – a Senior Secondary School II student and member of the church’s Media Unit – into his office on May 26th. The horrifying allegation is that he then raped her.

The brave victim has come forward, claiming she suffered severe injuries and excessive bleeding following the alleged assault. Adding another layer of horror, she alleges that Pastor Isah handed her ₦3000 (Nigeria) and explicitly threatened to kill her if she dared to tell anyone about what happened.

FCT Administration Condemns, Vows Action

The Federal Capital Territory Administration (FCTA) hasn’t taken this lightly. Through Dr. Adedayo Benjamins-Laniyi, the Mandate Secretary of the Women Affairs Secretariat, the administration has vehemently condemned the alleged act. They have pledged their full commitment to ensuring justice for the young girl.

“FCT will not harbour or provide a safe haven for any paedophile, whoever he or she may be. We will ensure that justice is served at all times when the rights of our children are violated,” Benjamins-Laniyi declared, emphasizing the FCTA’s zero tolerance for rape and gender-based violence.

Collaborative Effort and Support for Victim

The FCTA’s commitment is backed by Nigerian law, specifically Section 1 of the Child Rights Act, 2003. The Women Affairs Secretariat is actively collaborating with key stakeholders, including leaders from the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) and the Pentecostal Fellowship of Nigeria (PFN), as well as the Office of the Director of Public Prosecution and the Deputy Commissioner of Police handling gender-related cases.

Recognizing the immediate need for support, Benjamins-Laniyi directed a visit to the victim’s family. “The director has met with them and assured them of the FCTA’s commitment to secure justice for their only daughter,” she confirmed.

Warning Against Cyberbullying and Trauma Concerns

The Mandate Secretary also addressed a concerning secondary issue: the victim’s image being shared online.点名 a social media influencer, Isaiah Gbangbala, for posting her photo on Facebook, Benjamins-Laniyi described it as cyberbullying.

“The survivor and her parents are already traumatised, and negative social media campaigns are worsening their mental state. Legal action will be taken against anyone sharing her image online,” she warned sternly. The victim is reportedly experiencing severe physical and emotional distress and has had to withdraw from school for urgent medical care.

Police Confirm Custody, Emphasize Serious Legal Process

Deputy Commissioner of Police Rita Emesim confirmed Pastor Isah’s continued detention. She stressed the seriousness of the charges, explaining that rape is a federal offence in Nigeria, requiring investigation and prosecution in a Federal High Court, not a Magistrate Court.

Emesim dismissed rumours of a potential release, stating, “The matter is being handled professionally and without prejudice. If Pastor Amos Isah is found guilty, he will face the full wrath of the law.” The focus, she emphasized, is on building a solid case with sufficient evidence for conviction.

Unwavering Stance Against Abuse

This case highlights the FCTA’s strong stance. They are making it clear that child sexual abuse will not be tolerated, and no perpetrator, regardless of their standing as a ‘man of God’ or otherwise, will be shielded from the law. The fight for justice for this 14-year-old girl is just beginning.
