Not the First Controversy
This is not Dowen College’s first run-in with the authorities. In 2021, the school was temporarily closed by the Lagos State Government during investigations into the death of Sylvester Oromoni Jnr, a student whose case sparked nationwide outrage.
Government’s Warning
The Commissioner reiterated that the State is committed to enforcing environmental sanitation laws to protect public health and the environment. Institutions are urged to adopt proper waste management practices or face sanctions and possible closure.
