Woman Beats Husband to Death Over Food Argument in Yobe
The Yobe State Police Command has arrested a 35-year-old woman, Hadiza Mamuda, for allegedly killing her husband during a domestic argument over food in Fika Local Government Area.
The tragic incident occurred in Garin Abba village and was confirmed by police spokesperson SP Dungus Abdulkarim in a statement released on Wednesday, July 23. Eyes Of Lagos reports,
How the Incident Happened
According to the police report, Mamuda used a log of wood to fatally strike her husband during a heated argument.
“The Yobe State Police Command, Fika Divisional Police Headquarters, has apprehended Hadiza Mamuda, 35, of Garin Abba Village, Fika LGA, for allegedly killing her husband following a heated argument over food. The suspect reportedly used a log of wood to fatally assault the victim,” the statement read.
The deceased, a polygamous man with two wives and five children, was pronounced dead at the scene, leaving behind a grieving family.
Police Reaction and Investigation
The Yobe State Commissioner of Police, CP Emmanuel Ado, condemned the act, describing it as a disturbing case of domestic violence. He called for community-level interventions in marital disputes to prevent such violent outcomes.
“The Commissioner of Police emphasizes the need for marital community intervention initiatives to address domestic violence and abuse,” the statement added.
CP Ado also urged religious and community leaders to educate and sensitize families on the dangers of physical violence in marriages, stressing that domestic disputes should never escalate into deadly confrontations.
The police confirmed that a full investigation is underway, and the suspect will be charged in court after its conclusion.
