Popular gospel singer and broadcaster, Yinka Ayefele, has been thrown into grief after a fire outbreak ravaged his radio stations, Fresh FM 105.9 and Blast FM 98.3, in Ibadan on Friday, August 15, 2025.
The incident was confirmed by Ayefele in an emotional Facebook post, where he shared a video of the blazing fire alongside crying emojis. In a follow-up statement, the management of Fresh FM Nigeria disclosed that the inferno caused severe damage to critical sections of the stations, including the newsroom, transmitter and server rooms, studios, and other vital equipment. Eyes Of Lagos reports,
According to the statement, staff members made frantic efforts to battle the flames with in-house extinguishers before professional firefighters arrived, but the intensity of the fire made their attempts unsuccessful.
The official release reads in part:
“We are sad to inform the general public that the head office of Fresh FM Nigeria, Challenge–Ibadan, was razed by a devastating fire incident this evening, August 15, 2025. The studios of Fresh 105.9 and Blast 98.3 were badly burnt along with proximal offices like the newsroom, transmitter/server room, and several equipment. All efforts to fight the fire before the arrival of professional firefighters proved abortive because of the strength of the inferno. The cause of the fire is yet to be ascertained.”
Despite the huge loss, Ayefele and his management expressed deep gratitude to good-spirited Nigerians who rushed to assist during the tragic incident.
Investigations are expected to begin soon to determine the cause of the fire and assess the full extent of the damage.
