“‘You’re a Manipulator!’ – Portable Blasts VeryDarkMan Over Mohbad Justice Saga
Nigerian street-hop singer Habeeb Okikiola, popularly known as Portable, has come out swinging against controversial online activist Martins Otse, aka VeryDarkMan (VDM), over his recent statements regarding the late singer Mohbad and actress Iyabo Ojo. Eyes Of Lagos reports,
In a no-holds-barred video that’s now making waves on social media, Portable didn’t mince words. He accused VDM of manipulating public opinion and misleading Nigerians in the name of fighting for justice for Mohbad, who died under suspicious circumstances in September 2023.
“VeryDarkMan, you came out deceiving Nigerians that you want justice for Mohbad. You’re a manipulator,” Portable ranted.
“Now, you’re dragging Iyabo Ojo. What’s really her offense?”
Portable Defends Iyabo Ojo
Portable made it clear that he believes VDM’s ongoing attacks on actress Iyabo Ojo are misplaced and damaging—not just to her, but to the credibility of the entire #JusticeForMohbad movement. Iyabo, who has been an outspoken supporter of Mohbad since his passing, has faced constant criticism from VDM, with some alleging that she’s clout-chasing.
But Portable sees things differently. According to him, while Iyabo has been consistent in her fight for justice, VDM appears to have switched sides—from being an advocate for Mohbad to someone allegedly undermining the late singer’s memory.
“You claimed you want justice for Mohbad, so why are you now going against him?” Portable asked in disbelief.
“Let him rest in peace! Why are you dragging the dead?”
Social Media Explodes
Nigerians online have been divided over the Portable vs. VDM saga. On X (formerly Twitter), fans and critics alike are picking sides.
@NaijaTruthteller: “Portable actually made sense this time. VDM should let Mohbad rest.”
@LagosGistQueen: “VDM used Mohbad to gain clout. Iyabo Ojo has done more than most for the case.”
@ZazuZehFan: “Whether you like Portable or not, he’s saying what many are thinking.”
The Bigger Picture
The Mohbad controversy continues to evolve almost a year after his death, with no clear resolution or justice served. Portable’s explosive rant adds fuel to the fire and further shows how fractured the movement has become, with once-united voices now turning against each other.
While many Nigerians still demand a thorough investigation and accountability for those responsible for Mohbad’s tragic passing, the drama surrounding his name seems far from over.
