Super Falcons defender, Plumptre undergoes successful surgery

Ashleigh Plumptre, a defender for the Super Falcons, had a successful operation in Saudi Arabia.

Plumptre suffered the injury last month while playing for the Saudi team Al Ittihad. She was unable to participate in Nigeria’s Olympic Games qualifying match against the South African Banyana Banyana due to an injury.

On Sunday night, April 21, the former Leicester City player announced the news of her operation on her X account and thanked the team, the club, and her supporters for their support.

“I want to express my gratitude to Dr. Pieter D’Hooge at Aspetar and the entire team at @ittiladiesclub for helping me during my first surgery,” the woman stated.  Eyes Of Lagos reports,

“It’s been a long time coming trying to get answers but I’m so grateful to now be at this stage.

“To my @NGSuper_Falcons teammates and Nigerian fans… thank you for your patience and understanding when I’ve not been able to be with you. I can honestly say I have fought as hard and for as long as I can with this pain. I can’t wait to be back healthy with you all.

“My club – @ittiladiesclub. I’m so grateful to be surrounded by some really great humans at this club. Thank you, all of you, for helping me through and supporting me every step of the way.

“Back soon.”
