Why I No Longer Advise People to Audition for BBNaija – Phyna

Former Big Brother Naija Season 7 winner, Phyna, has revealed why she no longer encourages aspiring contestants to audition for the popular reality TV show.

Speaking openly during a recent conversation, the reality TV star explained that although BBNaija offers instant fame while the show is ongoing, the attention and popularity often fade shortly after housemates exit the house. Eyes Of Lagos reports,

According to Phyna, the excitement housemates enjoy during the show is largely driven by a recycled fan base that simply shifts loyalty from one season to the next.

“The steeze housemates have on the show, they don’t have it again after leaving the house. It’s the same fan base moving from one person to another — no new people, nothing new,” she said.

She added that once the cameras stop rolling, many former housemates struggle to maintain relevance because the hype does not translate into long-term value.

Phyna also expressed concern that the BBNaija brand no longer carries the same weight it once did. According to her, revealing that one is a former housemate no longer commands the level of respect it used to.

“The show has lost credibility compared to before. When you tell someone now that you came out of BBNaija, they won’t rate you like they did back then,” she stated.

Addressing common misconceptions, Phyna noted that many people believe BBNaija guarantees instant wealth, stability, and lifelong fame. However, she stressed that the reality is far more complicated.

She revealed that several ex-housemates struggle privately after the show, despite maintaining glamorous lifestyles on social media.

According to her, the pressure to stay relevant, secure deals, and meet public expectations can be overwhelming for many former contestants.

Phyna’s honest remarks have reignited discussions online about the true cost of reality TV stardom. Many social media users agreed that while BBNaija offers exposure, it does not automatically secure long-term success.

Her comments serve as a caution to potential contestants, urging them to fully understand what life after the show truly entails.
