Ashabi Simple Explains Why She Had Portable Arrested Over Alleged Axe Attack

Nollywood actress Ashabi Simple has broken her silence on the circumstances that led to the arrest of controversial singer Portable, detailing a disturbing incident she claims occurred during the festive period.

The actress, who is also one of Portable’s baby mamas, made the revelations after reports emerged that the singer had been taken into police custody following a complaint she filed. A viral video later surfaced online showing Portable visibly emotional and crying while handcuffed at a police station. Eyes Of Lagos reports,

Speaking on the matter, Ashabi Simple alleged that Portable confronted her and members of her family in public, threatening them with an axe during the altercation.

According to her account, the singer allegedly wielded the axe while demanding that they hand over their mobile phones. During the confrontation, she claimed that Portable punched her brother in the eye, an injury she said has yet to heal.

Ashabi further alleged that Portable also slapped her sister, accusing him of reacting violently to something her sister had reportedly said about him online.

Recounting another frightening moment, the actress said that after she managed to flee the initial scene, Portable later accosted her again, still holding an axe. She claimed that he then brought out a pot, poured water on her, and began chanting incantations in a language she did not understand.

Ashabi maintained that the incident left her traumatised and fearful for her safety and that of her family, prompting her decision to involve law enforcement authorities.

The allegations have since sparked intense reactions on social media, with many Nigerians calling for a thorough investigation into the claims. As of the time of filing this report, Portable has not publicly responded to the accusations.

Police authorities have also yet to release an official statement regarding the case.
