Nigerian rapper Vector Tha Viper, whose real name is Olanrewaju Ogunmefun, has stirred conversations online after sharing his perspective on intelligence, influence and public perception while discussing Labour Party’s former presidential candidate, Peter Obi.
The rapper made the remarks during a recent podcast appearance when he was asked whether he believed Obi was overhyped or deserving of the public attention he receives. In response, Vector described the politician as highly intelligent and influential, urging Nigerians to be cautious when assessing charismatic leaders. Eyes Of Lagos reports,
“As a matter of fact, Nigerians better be careful of such a man that is very highly intelligent,” he said. “Not because I know anything wrong with him or his stance — like he would say, go and verify. I might have personal opinions from my own experience, but I don’t know anything I can say you should beware of. But someone who knows their books well and can speak convincingly… people like that, they are hot.”
He further clarified that his comments were not intended to undermine Obi’s achievements or political activities but rather to highlight how public figures are often perceived differently over time.
“This is not in any way to stifle what he is doing, but you know there are many people we thought were the ones, and they turned out not to be,” Vector added.
The statement has since generated mixed reactions across social media, with supporters and critics debating the interpretation of his remarks and their political implications.
