
The Lagos State Domestic and Sexual Violence Agency (DSVA) has confirmed that it is investigating a viral social media video involving a young woman who narrated an alleged sexual assault at her residence.
In an official statement, the agency disclosed that it is actively working to locate the survivor in order to provide immediate intervention, safety support, and access to professional care services. Eyes Of Lagos reports,
The agency also appealed to members of the public who may have credible information about the survivor’s whereabouts to reach out through its verified communication channels.
“The Lagos State Government maintains a zero-tolerance stance against all forms of domestic and sexual violence,” the statement read. “Sexual assault is a crime, and every survivor deserves protection, care, support, and justice. We encourage survivors to speak up and assure the public that reports are treated with utmost confidentiality and urgency.”
Details shared in the viral video indicate that the survivor allegedly experienced the assault after opening her door to someone she believed to be a neighbour.
She reportedly explained that she had been struggling with insomnia and was under the influence of substances at the time of the incident, which may have affected her ability to respond quickly to the situation.
According to her narration, the intruder forced his way into her residence, leading to a physical struggle and eventual assault, leaving her traumatized.
Authorities said efforts are ongoing to ensure the survivor receives appropriate protection, medical attention, and psychological support once she is reached.
The agency reiterated the importance of public vigilance and cooperation, urging residents to report credible leads that could assist ongoing intervention efforts.
