Police Arrest 4 Over Alleged Human Parts Trade in Lagos

The Nigeria Police Force in Lagos State has arrested four individuals allegedly involved in the possession and sale of human body parts, sending shockwaves across the state.

The suspects, aged between 34 and 48, were apprehended in March by operatives from the Adeniji Adele Divisional Police Station.

According to police sources, the main suspect, aged 46, was intercepted during a routine stop-and-search operation along Bamgbose Street on Lagos Island. Eyes Of Lagos reports,

He was reportedly found in possession of suspected human body parts at the time of arrest.

During interrogation, the suspect allegedly confessed to sourcing human remains from abandoned locations, including under the Adeniji Adele bridge.

He reportedly admitted to collecting decomposing bodies, dismembering them, and selling the parts for as little as ₦10,000 to buyers.

The suspect also claimed that some of the remains were used in the production of black soap, marketed to individuals seeking spiritual favors such as luck, mercy, and prosperity.

Following his confession, three additional suspects were tracked and arrested.

Investigators say they admitted to purchasing human parts, allegedly for ritual-related purposes.

The suspects further revealed the existence of a wider network, with several accomplices still on the run.

The Lagos State Commissioner of Police, Fatai Tijani, has ordered the transfer of the case to the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) Panti for deeper investigation.

The Deputy Commissioner of Police in charge of SCID, Dayo Akinbisehin, confirmed that the recovered remains have been deposited in a morgue.

Authorities say investigations have been concluded, and the suspects will soon be charged in court.

Efforts are also ongoing to track down fleeing members of the syndicate.

The police reiterated their commitment to dismantling criminal networks across Lagos and warned that anyone involved in such activities would face severe legal consequences.

Residents were also urged to stay alert and report any suspicious movements to security agencies.

This incident has once again raised serious concerns about ritual-related crimes in Lagos and across Nigeria, with many calling for stricter surveillance and stronger community awareness.
