Popular media personality, Daddy Freeze, has thrown a ₦100 million challenge at reality TV star Cross Okonkwo following their disagreement over religion, miracles and the activities of Nigerian pastors.
The controversy began after Cross publicly criticised Daddy Freeze for his frequent comments about church leaders and Christian beliefs. Eyes Of Lagos reports.
In a post shared on social media, Cross urged the broadcaster to stop attacking religious figures and to show more respect for Christianity.
He wrote:
“Daddy Freeze, with due respect, sometimes keep your mouth shut. If you don’t know anything about our father Jesus Christ, don’t talk. And leave men and women of God out of your mouth.”
Daddy Freeze, however, fired back with a bold challenge aimed at proving claims of miraculous healing often made by some religious leaders.
The media personality stated that he was willing to put down ₦50 million of his own money and raise another ₦50 million, bringing the total reward to ₦100 million, if any pastor could heal at least one person from a group of 50 individuals living with severe physical disabilities.
According to him, if miracles and divine healing are genuine, they should be demonstrable under verifiable conditions.
He argued that among 50 people with disabilities, there should be at least one person with enough faith to receive healing if the claims made by some pastors are true.
Daddy Freeze also questioned why miraculous interventions appear absent in the face of pressing national issues, including insecurity, kidnappings and the suffering experienced by many Nigerians.
He referenced biblical accounts of miracles, particularly the story of Lazarus being raised from the dead in the Gospel of John, arguing that the miracles described in the Bible were public and undeniable.
Speaking on the matter, he said:
“Cross, I hereby challenge you. I put ₦50 million down and I’ll raise another ₦50 million from my people, making ₦100 million, if your so-called men of God can heal just one cripple out of 50 cripples that I will provide.
“You can’t tell me that out of 50 people, you can’t find one that has faith. Children are in the bush and men of God cannot see where they are, let alone pray for them to come out. Young people are dying. In John chapter 11, Christ raised Lazarus.”
The exchange has since generated widespread reactions on social media, with users divided over Daddy Freeze’s challenge.
While some supported his call for proof of miraculous claims, others defended pastors and maintained that faith and miracles cannot be subjected to public tests or monetary rewards.
As of the time of filing this report, Cross had not issued any further response to Daddy Freeze’s ₦100 million challenge.
