Former Big Brother Naija winner Josephina Otabor, popularly known as Phyna, has initiated legal proceedings against content creator Carter Efe, demanding ₦500 million in damages over allegations that the two had an intimate relationship.
The reality TV star also confirmed that legal action has been taken against popular streamer Davrel following a series of online exchanges that escalated into personal accusations. Eyes Of Lagos reports,
The controversy began after Davrel alleged that Carter Efe had made derogatory remarks about Phyna during an online conversation.
Reacting to the claims, Phyna confronted Davrel over an alleged unpaid debt, triggering a heated exchange between the pair.
As the argument intensified, Davrel accused the reality star of making advances toward him and further claimed that she had asked to be introduced to his father.
The online drama took another turn when Carter Efe, during a separate social media confrontation, alleged that he had previously had an intimate relationship with Phyna.
When Phyna challenged the statement by asking whether they had ever been involved, Carter Efe insisted on his claim and said he would provide evidence publicly.
Phyna immediately responded by stating that both Carter Efe and Davrel would be hearing from her legal representatives.
Speaking during an Instagram Live session on Thursday night, Phyna disclosed that legal documents had already been served on both Carter Efe and Davrel.
She said the recent controversy had forced her to rethink how she handles public disputes and announced that she would now rely on legal channels rather than social media confrontations.
According to the BBNaija star, the allegations had damaged her reputation and crossed personal boundaries she considers unacceptable.
She also apologised to her supporters, admitting that her reactions to previous online controversies may have contributed to negative public perceptions.
Phyna explained that while she has endured criticism in the past, allegations relating to her private life and sexual conduct were lines she would not allow anyone to cross.
She added that the recent incident marked the end of her approach of responding emotionally to online attacks, saying she would instead pursue accountability through the courts.
With legal processes now reportedly served on both Carter Efe and Davrel, the dispute appears set to move beyond social media into the courtroom.
Neither Carter Efe nor Davrel has publicly responded to Phyna’s announcement about the lawsuit at the time of filing this report.
The case is expected to attract significant attention within Nigeria’s entertainment industry, as it raises fresh conversations about online defamation, celebrity reputation, and accountability for statements made on social media.
