“Wizkid Called Me a Fool, But He Regrets It Now” – Reekado Banks Breaks Silence on 2020 Fallout

Nigerian Afrobeats singer Reekado Banks has finally spoken out about his infamous 2020 clash with Wizkid, revealing that the superstar now regrets calling him a “fool” during the #EndSARS protests. Eyes Of Lagos reports,

In a recent sit-down on The Esther Show, Reekado reflected on the heated online exchange that erupted after he announced the release of their joint single, Omo Olomo, at the height of the nationwide protests against police brutality.

“It was my management that insisted on releasing the song at that time,” he clarified. “I was actually against it.”

At the time, Wizkid, who was actively supporting the #EndSARS movement, publicly criticized Reekado, tweeting that he was a “fool” and “clout animal” for dropping music while the nation was in mourning.

🤝 Reconciliation Over Food & Reflection

But according to Reekado, time has healed old wounds.

“We had a little talk when he visited my restaurant. He was a little regretful about it. He said he shouldn’t have gone that route,” Reekado said.

The singer added that their conversation took a deeper turn, with both artists reflecting on shared losses. “He spoke with empathy… All three of us — me, Wizkid, and Don Jazzy — lost our mothers recently. That pain connected us.”

✅ “We’re Good Now”

Though fans may have speculated about lingering bad blood between the two stars, Reekado confirmed:

“We’re good now.”

Their reconciliation may open doors for future collaboration — a prospect many Afrobeats fans would welcome after years of silence.
