Buhari Proved It’s Possible to Lead Without Corruption” – Osinbajo Praises Former President

Former Vice President Yemi Osinbajo has praised the late former President Muhammadu Buhari, describing his time in office as proof that leadership can be rooted in integrity, honesty, and transparency.

Speaking at the All Progressives Congress (APC) National Executive Council meeting on Thursday, Osinbajo said Buhari’s administration showed that public service can be carried out with values and principles. Eyes Of Lagos reports,

“Buhari Served Faithfully” – Osinbajo

“I want to say that, in the end, service to our country is perhaps the most important attribute of all,” Osinbajo said. “He served faithfully for many years. He proved that you can serve honestly, forthrightly, with transparency and integrity.”

Osinbajo described Buhari as a faithful public servant, consistent in character, grounded in discipline, patriotism, and a deep commitment to Nigeria’s progress.

Buhari the ‘Convicted Democrat’

The former vice-president highlighted Buhari’s democratic journey, recalling how he transitioned from a military ruler to a devoted democrat who respected due process.

“President Muhammadu Buhari will be remembered first as a convicted democrat,” Osinbajo said. “He contested and lost presidential elections three times, but instead of walking away, he sought justice through the courts—attending every single proceeding until the matter was resolved. He finally won in 2015.”

Osinbajo praised Buhari’s respect for the rule of law, love for democracy, and loyalty to the APC, noting that he upheld the standards the party was founded on.

“He wanted a country that was united, believed in itself, and was successful in every way,” he added.

Osinbajo concluded by thanking God for Buhari’s years of service and the values he upheld throughout his life.
