Tragedy in Ogun: Mother of Three Dies After Fiancé’s Family Allegedly Rejects Marriage

A heartbreaking incident has been reported in Ijebu Ode, Ogun State, where a 30-year-old woman, Abigail Adebayo, allegedly took her own life after facing rejection from her fiancé’s family over her past relationship and children.

According to a report by Daily Post, Abigail had been in a relationship with Oniga Abiola since September 2025, and the couple were said to be making plans to get married. However, tensions reportedly arose when Abiola introduced her to his mother about two weeks ago. The family allegedly disapproved of the union, citing the fact that she had three children from a previous relationship. Eyes Of Lagos reports,

Sources say the rejection left Abigail deeply emotional and distressed. She was later discovered unresponsive in her room after allegedly ingesting a toxic substance.

Abiola reportedly informed officers at the Atan Ijebu Division of the Ogun State Police Command, prompting an immediate response.

Confirming the incident, the Police Public Relations Officer, Oluseyi Babaseyi, stated that the victim was rushed to General Hospital, Ijebu Ode, where medical personnel confirmed her death on arrival.

Police authorities disclosed that detectives visited both the scene and the hospital, documenting evidence and observing that there were no visible signs of physical violence on the body. A full investigation has since been launched to determine the exact circumstances surrounding the tragedy.

The incident has sparked conversations online about emotional distress, societal pressure, and the challenges faced by single parents seeking remarriage.
