Charly Boy Bus Stop Renamed to Baddo Bus Stop in Lagos to Honor Olamide
The popular Charly Boy Bus Stop in Bariga, Lagos, has been officially renamed to Baddo Bus Stop, in a significant tribute to Olamide Adedeji, the acclaimed Nigerian rapper widely known as Baddo. This renaming was part of a move by the Bariga Local Council Development Area (LCDA) to honor individuals who have made notable contributions to the community and Nigeria at large. Eyes Of Lagos reports,
Baddo, whose music has significantly influenced the Nigerian music industry, is now immortalized in the heart of Lagos with the bus stop bearing his name. This gesture aims to celebrate his impact, not only as a musician but as a cultural ambassador who has shaped the soundscape of modern Nigerian music.
In addition to the renaming of Charly Boy Bus Stop, other streets in the area have also been rebranded as part of the initiative. Bariga Road is now Bola Ahmed Tinubu Way, a nod to the current President of Nigeria and former Lagos State Governor, Bola Ahmed Tinubu. The renaming of Ilojo Crescent to Bukayo Saka Street further highlights the effort to honor significant personalities, this time celebrating Bukayo Saka, the England and Arsenal winger, for his remarkable achievements in international football.
These renamings form part of a broader initiative by the Bariga LCDA to immortalize those who have positively impacted Nigerian culture, sport, and governance. The changes serve as a reminder of the diverse ways individuals contribute to national progress, whether through music, politics, or sports.
