Kunle Remi Slams Lagos Portrayal During IShowSpeed’s African Tour
Nollywood actor Kunle Remi has criticised the representation of Lagos State during the recent visit of American streamer IShowSpeed to Nigeria, describing it as poorly executed and lacking cultural depth.
IShowSpeed arrived in Lagos last Wednesday as part of his ongoing project, “Speed Does Africa,” a 28-day livestream tour across multiple African countries aimed at showcasing the continent’s culture, people, and landscapes to a global audience. Nigeria marked the 15th stop on the streamer’s continent-wide journey, which began on December 29, 2025. Eyes Of Lagos reports,
Reacting via his Instagram Story after following the tour so far, Kunle Remi expressed disappointment over how Lagos was presented to millions of global viewers.
The actor described Nigeria as the “worst” destination on his personal assessment of the tour, arguing that the Lagos experience failed to reflect the country’s cultural richness and identity.
“After watching IShowSpeed’s journey so far, Nigeria is the worst on my own list,” Kunle Remi wrote.
“We just really stripped Lagos naked. No be say anything dey under the clothes before sha.”
Kunle Remi further lamented what he described as a reduction of Nigeria’s identity to nightlife and superficial attractions, suggesting that the portrayal lacked authenticity and meaningful cultural storytelling.
“Seems like we have lost the essence of culture, our truth,” he added.
“All we have is fake drinks, club and beggy beggy skills.”
The actor’s remarks have sparked mixed reactions online, with some Nigerians agreeing that Lagos was not adequately represented, while others defended the experience, arguing that the city’s nightlife is also part of its reality.
As of the time of filing this report, neither IShowSpeed nor the organisers of the Nigerian leg of the tour have responded to the criticism.
